PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT
· Your paper may be presented orally or as a poster. Oral presentations are generally 15 minutes. The speaker should limit the presentation to 10-12 minutes to allow time for discussion; longer presentations should be limited accordingly.

· Payment for MEMBERSHIP of one author must be sent for the abstract to be accepted and the presenting author must be a member of the Academy at the time the paper/poster is presented. You will first need to go to the "Join MAS" link http://www.msacad.org/join.html for a new membership or renewal (if you are a Life Member you will still need to click on Renewal). If you are already a member in good standing for 2010, you may go directly to the "Submit On-line" link http://www.msacad.org/abstract/ .
· All abstracts should be submitted through Oxford Abstracts http://www.msacad.org/abstract/. Instructions for submitting an abstract can be found here http://www.msacad.org/oxfordabstractinstructions. The deadline for abstract submission is November 1, 2009.
o We prefer PAYMENT FOR THE ABSTRACT via the PayPal link you will see when you submit your abstract through Oxford Abstracts. If you do not use PayPal, enclose a personal check, money order, institutional check, or purchase order for the $25 publication charge for each abstract to be published, payable to the Mississippi Academy of Sciences. The publication charge will be refunded if the abstract is not accepted.
o Abstracts may be edited up until the November 1 deadline. Abstracts that are resubmitted for changes after that will incur a $10 resubmission fee.
o Late abstracts will be accepted with a $10 late fee until November 30 and increase to $25 after that. Late abstracts will be accepted only if there is room in the appropriate division. They will be published in the April issue of the MAS JOURNAL.
· Attendance and participation at all sessions requires PAYMENT OF REGISTRATION. Preregistration payment ($55 regular; $25 student) may be paid via the MAS website, http://www.msacad.org/prereg/, prior to Jan. 8, 2010, or you may pay full registration fees ($80 regular; $40 student) at the meeting.
